Daniel Wilson Outten

Daniel Wilson Outten, son of John and Sarah Baker Outten, was born March 6, 1822. He was a ship carpenter by trade, and moved to Wilmington when he was a young man to work in the shipyards. He attended Scott Methodist Episcopal Church. His wife's name was Mary Ann. They had four children:

Arthur Adams, who was born November 26, 1850, at Concord, and married Maggie Thompson, November 24, 1870. They were the parents of five children. Their first child William W., died in 1873, one year old; Alice May, born in 1874, married Ernest Hinder, and died aged 25 years. She was the mother of two children. Florence died in infancy, and Ethel May married Harvey Valk. Ernest Wilson Outten son of Arthur, was born December 31, 1875. He married May White, daughter of Thomas T. and Laura J. White of South Wilmington. They have three children: Pearl Jane, Everett Wilson, and Wilbur. Everett lives at 442 South Claymont St., Wilmington. He is a coppersmith, and is a trustee of Madely M. E. Church. Alberta Baker Outten married Harry Hinder, brother to Ernest Hinder, who married her sister, dying at the age of 21, and leaving one child Myrtle Baker Hinder. The child was raised by Arthur Outten, her grandfather, and married George Rogerson.

Obed Outten, another son of Daniel, was born in 1859. He is a boiler-maker by trade, and lives in Coatesville, Pa. He has three children: Anna, married ______ Fifer, and has one child named James. Ernest is married and lives in Detroit, Mich.; and Elmer Arthur, who was born in 1897.

Hester Outten, a daughter of Daniel, married George Green of Seaford. They had one child that died young, and Hester died at 25 years of age.

Lizzie, another daughter of Daniel, died when she was five or six years old.
